Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB)

Statement of Intent

At Prospect Hill Junior School, we are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging (DEIB) and wellbeing. We aim for every pupil to fulfil their potential no matter what their needs. Our School is committed to anti-discriminatory practice to promote equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all our school community.

We aim to:

Provide a secure and accessible environment in which all our children can flourish and in which all contributions are considered and valued.

Include and value the contribution of all families to our understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion,

Belonging (DEIB) and wellbeing.

Provide positive non-stereotyping information about gender roles, diverse ethnic and cultural groups and disabled people.

Improve our knowledge and understanding of issues of anti-discriminatory practice, promoting equality and valuing diversity.

Make ‘Belonging’ a thread that runs through our school community.

We believe that all pupils should be respected and valued. We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and aim for every pupil to fulfil their potential no matter what their background or personal circumstances.

We are committed to:

• Meeting our legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010, SEND Code of Practice, Public

Sector Equality Duty

• Promoting a culture of belonging and respect, where difference is valued and wellbeing is actively supported.

• Embedding inclusion as a core priority to ensure that all pupils have a wide and balanced curriculum, where they can learn and make progress, and which is adapted to meet individual needs
