PE Beyond the Curriculum
At Prospect Hill Junior School, opportunities for extra-curricular sport are systematically planned and delivered to enable participation beyond PE lessons and provide additional time for practice, as well as opportunity to extend and refine the knowledge which has been taught in the formal curriculum.
Funfit and physiotherapy sessions are offered to children who may require additional support to develop their motor skills and fundamental movement skills (locomotor skills - such as running and jumping; stability skills - such as twisting and balancing; manipulation skills - such as throwing and catching).
After school clubs are offered to all of our pupils - these change termly and are based upon suggestions from our pupils gathered through pupil voice.
We host intra-sport competitions throughout the year in order to provide as many children as possible with the opportunity to participate in competitive sport. These competitions are carefully planned following the School Games 'Reframing Competition' recommendations to ensure all children have a positive experience of competition.
Through our participation in the Bassetlaw School Games Association, we participate in a range of competitions and festivals which allow for skill development beyond the curriculum, and the opportunity to develop social skills and sporting etiquette too.
